I believe that the true fount of creativity and genius is lack of sleep. For some reason, though it can be quite uncomfortable it tends to, at least for me, unlock some deep ability to think, understand, and produce. Is it perhaps, the loss of rational thought? Is there some inherent tie between our rationality/civilized nature and the stifling of creativity? Who knows...
Random imagery (now with more bad grammar!):
And of windswept valleys, the caress of the air moving every blade of grass, sweeping back hair and bringing the feeling of adventure and exploration to the small town.

California
I've decided that for this blog, I'm going to be honest. If anyone reading this does not wish to see my true beliefs about something, then I would suggest that they not read this. This doesn't mean I'll be revealing deep dark truths or anything, just that I'll be blunt about my opinions about people.
Anyways, I recently went to California with my girlfriend, her sister and her mother. They are all incredibly agreeable people and the trip was quite tolerable on the way down. Unfortunately, California is hot. Very hot in fact. I live in Oregon, where it is quite rainy and cool, even during the summer. I'd only experienced such hellish heat in one other place. Nevada. I hate Nevada. The sad thing is that the heat wasn't even the worst part. I generally dislike people's families. They always seem to include quite rude people, and the occasional shady cruel person. I found just about everyone directly related to my girlfriend to be kind and wonderful. The exception being her grandmother. At first impression, her grandmother appeared to be the normal sort of grandmother, almost stereotypical in her attitude. This facade was later dashed by her crabby and obstinate outbursts. She would argue illogically, believing herself fully in the right. If there is any argument I cannot stand, it is one based illogicly, with no chance of change in opinion.
Regardless, this trip has been enjoyable if only for the ability to spend time with my girlfriend. I'm glad to be back in Oregon (though not quite home) and am looking forward to the rest of the summer.

Ubuntu
Ok, I've started dual-booting Windows XP and Ubuntu Gutsy.
I have a few things to say about Ubuntu. Chiefly among them: Ubuntu somehow perfects the art of being incredibly simple to use while also being brain fuckingly difficult and complicated.
A great example is synaptic. I love synaptic. Access to tons of programs with a few clicks? It's wonderful. It's also quite simple. Anyone could figure it out and get any program they want. However, if it (or any other part of the os) isn't working, you have to wade through heaps of forum posts for the answer to how to fix it. The fix is generally some odd confusing command-line string that I'm sure I would understand if I had been using the os for a long time, but that unfortunately is not true of most people using Ubuntu.
Right now, I can't get my wireless working. I'm having to route a cable to my desktop, and will probably continue to do so long into the future, primarily because it'll be easier than try to figure out what the hell is wrong with the wireless.
